Clear Meadow Farm is a third-generation farm that sits just across from the Pennsylvania line in Harford County Maryland.
The Rose Family has been providing a variety of agriculture-related products and services for nearly 75 years.
This past year, Clear Meadow Farm saw the potential to expand and add Industrial Hemp to their crop rotation. They teamed up with Groff North America and farmed 35 acres of hemp this season and plan to double that next year.
We sat down and talked to Greg Rose and one of their farmers, Andy Grove. We asked what made them decide to get into the hemp growing business. The answer was easy; it’s a great new opportunity to diversify. Greg Rose says, “in my opinion, some farmers may look at it as not being more profitable than corn, but as you grow it for a couple of years and become more productive you will see bigger margins. Harvesting the seed, in addition, will really lead to increase and profit margin will be higher.” Clear Meadow Farm realizes the potential that comes along with growing industrial hemp. If you already have the equipment then it’s an easy way for your farm to expand and diversify, so why not!
